Today, we had to eat breakfast early - at 6:30 - and leave ai 7:15 with bags packed for 2 nights. We drove to Nazareth. We attended the service of holy Eucharist at Christ Church, Nazareth. It was half in English and half in Arabic. Afterwards, we were invited to their coffee hour. They served Turkkish coffee!
Afterwards, we went to lunch at the Holy Land Restaurant (chick pea soup, spaghetti, beef and vegetables and a macaroon for dessert) Then we went to see several churches. We visited the Basilica of the Annunciation. It's a church built by the Franciscans over the place where Mary supposedly received the annunciation from the Angel Gabriel. The church isn't very old. It's from 1969. The Franciscans knocked down an earlier church and built this one over it.
Next we headed out for Capernaum. It was very hot when we arrived. There's an old synagogue, a church that is supposedly over the home of Peter's mother. There are also some ruins from houses at that time.
Then we came over to the pilgrim guest house where we are staying for 2 nights. It's beautiful. Joanne and I took showers right away because we were really sweaty. Then we went up on the patio with the others and had wine. Jon bought us the first bottle - very nice of him since he doesn't drink alcohol. Then we went in for dinner. This is a German place so the food was German - chicken schnitzel and potatoes. I'm not a big fan of German food. And I don't understand why the Germans travel to another country and then eat their own food. They'll probably have liver wurst for breakfast.
After dinner, we walked down to the water and stuck our feet in. Now, we are just tired after a long, hot day.
